In some cases yes, but we always assess the substrate first. If there’s rot, structural movement, or drainage issues underneath, we’ll recommend addressing those before installation. A new membrane over a compromised deck won’t last.
Vinyl is a fully waterproof membrane — it seals the entire deck surface including seams and edges. Composite is a board product with gaps between planks, so water still gets underneath. For North Saanich’s wet seasons and exposed properties, vinyl is the more durable choice.

Yes — membrane replacement is one of the most common jobs we do on the Peninsula. When an older vinyl system cracks, bubbles, or separates at the seams, patching is only a temporary fix. We strip the membrane back to the substrate, check for rot or structural movement underneath (common on larger rural decks with ground movement), and install a fresh waterproof system built to last.
